In the following article I am going to present an experiment in which I explored the effectiveness of a new method which I coined gift constellation. I aimed to reveal the subjects’ main talent with the help of morphogenetic field and representative perception, nowadays popularly known from Hellinger’s family constellation.
I worked with twenty people aged 20-35, who I wanted to help firstly by discovering their individual talent, secondly by eliminating obstacles that might prevent them from fully possessing it as a resource, thirdly by helping them realize what the relevant training or profession might be where their talent can flourish and where others can benefit from it the most. I start my article by expounding on assorted opinions about talent in different schools of psychology, especially humanistic and transpersonal theories, I then specify the most crucial elements appearing in the constellation, with the help of which I simultaneously explain the procedure.

My hypothesis was that I would be able to increase the awareness of these youth in their self-actualization in four different questions with the help of gift constellation. I measured their confidence in researching self-actualization with four different Likert scales before and after the experiment and evaluated the result with dependent t test. I followed the experiment up with an open-ended questionnaire and I collected the common elements of the responses.

My hypothesis was proven to be correct; it is indeed possible to assist the youth in becoming more conscious in their way towards self-realization through gift constellation.

The main talent constellation is an experiment which gives subjects the possibility to experience their talent in each individual case, while it also takes into consideration the different theories of transpersonal psychology. We transfer information from the occult to the formal level in the Wilberian sense, from the level of self-actualization to that of the ego seeking appreciation in the Maslowian sense, from the supersonscious to the conscious level in the Assagiolian sense. The experiment utilized the morphogenetic field and representational perception, the explanation of which is provided by Bohm’s quantum potential and Pribam’s theory of the holographic brain.

Main concepts in the literary background

Morphogenetic field

The morphogenetic field – meaning a field generating or morphing into forms – is primarily a biological and not a psychological term, often referred to by facilitators. It was coined by Rupert Sheldrake PhD English biologist when he was working in Cambridge. He describes the theory of morphic resonance in A New Science of Life, which asserts that next to the known material factors every system is run by invisible organizing powers, which are causal fields serving as behavioral pattern pre-structure behind them.  He calls them morphogenetic field and claims that their effects can operate in a distance (Sheldrake, 2003).

Representative perception

Representative perception is the phenomenon of someone being able to portray a person physically, in motion and emotionally without knowing any significant detail about them.
We only know one example of a major study specifically on representative perception. Schlötter conducted 4000 individual experiments with 250 test subjects and proved that it is not an accidental but a reliable phenomenon, even if its true nature is vague (Angster, 2011, 274).

Holographic brain and the discoveries of quantum physicist David Bohm and neurologist Karl Pribam

Michael Talbot reports physicist Dr. David Bohm’s and neurologist Karl Pribam’s finding, which maintains that the brain is organized according to the principle of quantum mathematics and waveform characteristics in a hologram-like way.
Bohm declares that the activities of quantum space is more closely related to the harmonic unity of a living creature than to a unity reached by the assembly of a machine’s spare parts and believes that on this level every single point in space becomes equal to the other and therefore it makes no sense to define things on their own, separate from everything else.

Quantum entanglement and the lipoprotein membrane complex, as the mediator of information

According to Dr. Ede Frecska, Chief of Department at the National Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Budapest, a subcellar network of our brain, perhaps the lipoprotein membrane complex is capable of mediating this information, which can be portrayed in the body independently from space or time through non-local relationships and quantum correlations.
He too states that if two particles have ever been in the same quantum system, then they will continue to be related independently from their spatial and temporal position. This means that if one particle’s quantum condition is changed, its condition in quantum entanglement changes too at the same time (Frecska, 2011).

I conducted the 90-minute constellations according to the practice of constellations with 20 young persons in the framework of individual consultations, my preferred method of work.
With the help of colourful pieces of paper the client represented the following factors: their main focus, main talent, the activity that suits their talent the best, current studies or current job.
With the help of representative perception the test subjects could experience utilizing their main talent and/or individual quality in the morphogenetic field and we examined how their current studies or job relates to this and what would be the environment, study or work that would best support them.
You can find a short description here:

I asked the following questions two months before and after the experiment. They evaluated the same questions on a 0-10 Likert scale

  • How much do you feel that you are aware of your main talent?
  • How much do you feel that you are currently exercising your main talent?
  • How much do you feel that you have found the way to benefit from your main talent in the future?
  • How clearly do you see the way you will be able to realize yourself in the future?

Before and after the constellation the following four questions had to be evaluated on a Likert scale from 1 to 10.
Subsequently, they received an open-ended question:

  • Has there been an event in the past month that helped to see your self-actualisation more clearly?

My hypothesis has proved to be true in all four cases. Within the 0-10 Likert scale, if we observe the means of the differences, the score for test subjects’ knowledge of their main talent increased by 5 points, the exploitation of their talent and the awareness of how they will realize themselves in the future rose by 4 points, and the experience of taking advantage of their talent within a month went up by 2.

Consequently, the method I devised can help youngsters to raise their awareness of ways on self-actualisation.

Since little scientific psychological technical literature is available on the operation of family constellation and its effectiveness, and we do not have knowledge of a documented experiment specifically aiming to reveal our main talent and ways of self-actualization, I compared it with psychodrama and NLP, techniques having the closest resemblance to this method.

The main reason for seeking admission to Virje University Amsterdam is that I would like to become competent in the analysis of neural processes as a research scientist and also once to be able to examine the background of altered states of consciousness in the brain similar to the representative perception.
Furthermore, I am planning to create a programme dealing with not only revealing but supporting talent, where participants will have the chance to take part in a constellation linked to a coaching session, during which they will have to present their stages of self-actualisation to each other in the interest of their self-acceptance, self-expression and development. The longitudinal study of this program, the steps participants take in their real life and their internal and external successes would give real feedback on the effectiveness of this method.
